Taipei Taiwan Itinerary – Day 2
How to go to Taichung?
Since we are on a Taiwan Budget Itinerary, the best way to travel to Taichung is by train. There are two major rail operators in Taiwan – Taiwan High-Speed Rail (HSR) and Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA). Taking a bus or a private car is also an option but aside from money, you also need to budget your time. 😎
Rent a private car – 2,200 NTD for 1 day
BUS – 290 NTD (3 to 4 hours)
TRA – 380 NTD ( 2 hours and 30 mins)
HSR – 800 NTD (1 hour)
We took the HSR going to Taichung because we already bought a 3-day unlimited HSR Pass through Klook for only Php 3,100. Here’s the link : [Rail Passes] Taiwan Joint Train Pass

Zhongshe Flower Market 中社花市
ZhongShe Flower Market is probably the most Instagram-worthy destination we’ve visited in Taiwan. There are a lot of different flowers. All of them are beautiful. The place can also be super hot during the summer season.
Entrance Fee:
Walk-ins need to pay 140 NTD for every person but we took the 300 NTD because it has an Unlimited BBQ Meal already aside from the Free Pass to the flower garden.
Directions: We took HSR going to Taichung. Taichung HSR Stations is just connected to TRA Xinwuri Station, where we boarded a train going to Tainan Station. Upon arriving at Tainan Station, we rode a taxi 50 NTD each going to the Flower Market.

Rainbow Village
This was created by a former soldier, Huang Yung-Fu. He began painting these houses to save them from demolition.
Entrance Fee: FREE
Directions: From Xinwuri Station take a Bus No. 56 for 10 to 15 mins go to Rainbow Village.

Outside the Rainbow Village, there’s a grandma who is selling homemade ice cream.

After that, we went back to Taipei. We took the same bus number going back to Xinwuri Station, where we took the HSR back to Taipei Main Station.

We arrived at our hotel at 6 PM. Took a little rest and went to Shilin Night Market.

This day was very tiring for me, but very rewarding too. I want to visit Taichung again and maybe try other tourist spots next time.
