What to Expect at Ogtong Cave
I’ve seen so many beautiful photos of Ogtong Cave online. Its most noticeable feature is its turquoise water visible from the mouth of the cave. That makes me want to visit it and want to see it in person.
I already expected that there will be a lot of tourists and somehow managed my expectation that it will be a challenge to get a nice photo without photobombers or at least decent photos for the blog. So, given that they are only open from 8 am to 4 pm, my strategy was to go when most people are somehow occupied and I had chosen lunchtime.
We arrived at exactly 12:10 pm. We paid Php 225 each for the entrance fee. To be honest, it’s a little expensive for me who travels on a budget. I even asked the receptionist if we can pay less since we only wanted to see Ogtong Cave and not the whole resort but were told we still need to pay that amount even if we choose not to stay long.
Look at how many slippers they were. So many people in a small cave. Apparently, my strategy in choosing the time to visit didn’t work. BUT…we were patient. We stayed swimming inside the cave. The water and the shade inside are so refreshing given that it was so hot outside. Then…we got a small window – a quick 5 minutes to take photos. A big thank you to kuya guide for helping us.
It’s a mixture of fresh and saltwater, and the water level depends on the tides. We were able to stand and even sit in some parts.
