Mambukal Mountain Resort: How to go to?
Mambukal Resort is located in the town of Murcia, 31 KM east of Bacolod. The resort is 1200 feet above sea level and is near Mt. Kanlaon.
From Bacolod City, go to Libertad and ride a minibus going directly to Mambukal Resort. The travel time is around an hour or more, and the fare is PHP 35.00.
Mambukal Mountain Resort
The resort is situated in an almost 24-hectare land area and is blessed with wonderful natural features. One of the most popular features of the resort of course aside from their swimming pools is the descending seven (7) waterfalls. The water from the falls is streaming into the center of the resort also feeding the water holes and a wide boating lagoon.
We arrived at the resort early in the morning. After getting off the van, we immediately start exploring the area.
LAGOON
The first thing that welcomed us is this wide lagoon. As per our guide, we can rent Kayak in here. But since we only have limited time, we proceed in checking the area.
On our way to the butterfly garden, we saw this beautiful spot where we took another set of pictures.
BUTTERFLY GARDEN
Before going inside the garden, you need to pay the PHP 25 entrance fee. Inside the garden are different flowers and lots of butterflies of different shapes and colors.
Plus, you got the chance to be a butterfly yourself. 😂
It’s very overwhelming having those interactions with butterflies. We stayed for like 20 to 30 minutes only.
SEVEN WATERFALLS
There’s trekking needed in order to reach the waterfalls. There’s no entrance fee but we did pay for the tour guide amounting to PHP 350. The first 5 waterfalls are not for swimming. You have to reach the 6th and 7th falls if you wanted to take a dip.
SULFUR HOT SPRING
Mambukal Resort lies 1,200 feet above sea level beside the active Mt. Kanlaon. That’s why there are a lot of hot springs. It’s my first time seeing something like this. The pool is emitting gasses. We can actually see parts where it is really boiling and the area smells sulfur.
This is the only part that is warm enough for hand dipping. But it’s still hot. Dipping your hand longer is not possible. 😅
BAT VIEWING
There are a lot of fruit bats in the area too. They can be seen even while walking in the area. We saw a group of them flying just above us.
WARM SULFUR DIPPING POOL
This is where we spent most of our time. The pool is very relaxing and it feels like it took toxins from our bodies. There’s a separate entrance fee for those who want to take a dip here.
