I stood still, staring at it; regretful of my decision to skip this waterfalls and exclude this from our Dumaguete Itinerary. I was astonished as I gazed at this incredible single-drop waterfall where the cascading waters create a mist around its deep and cold natural pool. It was so enthrallingly high standing at around 100 feet, Casaroro Falls is indeed a cradle to a gem with an irresistible charm.
CASARORO FALLS IN VALENCIA
Casaroro Falls is located in the town of Valencia, Negros Oriental. It is just a 20-minute drive from Dumaguete City and one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the region.
In this blog post, I will cover everything you need to know about Casaroro Falls including the entrance fees, and how to get there.
How to get to Casaroro Falls?
Make your way to Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental, Philippine Airlines, Air Asia, and Cebu Pacific have numerous flights available daily.
From Dumaguete City, the short journey could take less than 20 minutes. Travel time mainly depends on your mode of transportation.
By Motorcycle or Scooter
This is generally the cheapest option to get around. You will find a motorcycle rental in Dumaguete that will cost Php300 to Php500 ($8-$10) per day.
Hire Car/Van + Driver
If traveling in a larger group (more than 2) or aren’t confident riding a scooter, then a hiring car or van is a great option. The driver usually serves as a tour guide already. Besides from driving you around, your driver will usually suggest a route and popular tourist attractions included in the day. It costs Php3000 ($60) for 8 hours and can take 4 passengers. When you arrived at the airport, there are a lot of drivers offering so make sure to check the best price.
DIY – Commute
But the most interesting way to go is to do it DIY and use public transport.
From Dumaguete catch a multi-cab heading to Valencia from near the public market. Let the driver know you are going to Casaroro Falls so he will drop you off as close as possible. If you are too far away use a habal-habal for the rest of the journey.
Multicab cost: Php20 ($.40) – Habal-Habal Php150 ($3) for 15 minutes ride.
CASARORO FALLS ENTRANCE FEES & GUIDES
The entrance fee is paid right at the jump-off. As of writing, the entrance fee is Php 20. You have an option to not get a guide because the trail is pretty obvious. The guide fee is Php 100 per group. Although we didn’t see the need for a guide, it is nice to have someone with you especially if you are alone or don’t have experience in such environments.
MY EXPERIENCE AT CASARORO FALLS

The fun starts once we got into this Welcome sign! Going to the falls I must say is pretty much challenging. We started walking down a 335 steps stairway. These steps were quite mossy and slippery when we got there. At the end of the stairs, the trail leads to either side. The right direction to Casaroro Falls is on the right side once you are near the river. We continued to trek up alongside the river by following the path. We had to jump a few rocks and make several impromptu river crossings to navigate up toward the falls. Good thing we are wearing trekking sandals.

As we continued, we could hear the crashing sound of water from the falls. We arrived after 20 minutes of trekking. it was so amazing to see. The mist it creates made us unable to use our phones for pictures. We hang out for 20-30 minutes and swim at the shallow portion of the waterfall before hiking back up.
It was 3 pm when we got there (plus it’s a weekday) and we were lucky to enjoy this spot all alone. I imagine the weekends are packed with many daytrippers enjoying their taste of nature.
I hope you enjoyed this guide to visiting Casaroro Falls in Valencia. Enjoy your hike! The beauty of these falls is truly of no other.
