On our second day in Thailand, we planned to visit Ancient City (Muang Boran), and since Erawan Museum is also in the same area, we decided to explore both on the same day. To save money, we booked the Ancient City + Erawan Museum + Lunch/Dinner Buffet package through Klook for only ₱1,433 each. I found this more affordable than buying entrance tickets directly, and the included buffet lunch meant we didn’t need to search for a restaurant that might be pricey.

Ancient City (Muang Boran)
Known as the world’s largest outdoor museum, Ancient City (or Muang Boran) is a massive cultural park that covers over 300 acres. It showcases replicas of Thailand’s most important landmarks, temples, and historical sites—some even in full size. It’s like traveling around the entire country in just one place. The goal of this cultural park is to preserve Thai architecture and history, making it a perfect destination for both learning and sightseeing.

How to Get to Ancient City
After visiting Wat Arun at around 10:00 AM, we booked a Grab ride going to Ancient City. Since we were a group of six, splitting the 280 Baht fare made it convenient and cost-efficient. We arrived a little before 11:00 AM.
Other commute options:
- By BTS + Minibus:
- Take the BTS Skytrain (Green Line) and get off at Kheha Station.
- From there, ride a Songthaew (shared minibus) or taxi to Ancient City ( around 10 minutes). Fare: 10–20 Baht.
- By Taxi/Grab from Bangkok: Around 400–500 Baht one way, depending on traffic.
- By Tour Shuttle: Some Klook packages include transfers for convenience.
Experience at Ancient City
At the reception, I simply showed my Klook voucher, and the staff gave us a map and short orientation about the must-see photo spots.
Before exploring, we had our buffet lunch at the riverside pavilion. There were plenty of dishes to choose from, and eating by the water made it more enjoyable.

Afterward, we rented traditional Thai costumes for 600 Baht, which made our photos extra special. We also rented a golf cart (500 Baht first hour, 300 Baht succeeding hours) because the area is just too massive to explore by foot.
The highlights were seeing temples, palaces, and cultural landmarks all in one place—it really felt like we toured the whole of Thailand in just a few hours. By 3:00 PM, we wrapped up our visit and booked a Grab to our next stop: Erawan Museum.
Erawan Museum
The Erawan Museum is famous for its giant three-headed elephant statue that stands on top of a pastel-pink building, making it one of Bangkok’s most unique landmarks. The three-headed elephant (Airavata in Hindu mythology) represents wisdom, strength, and protection. Inside the museum, you’ll find a blend of Thai spiritual art, antiques, and cultural treasures spread across three levels symbolizing the underworld, earth, and heaven.
How to Get to Erawan Museum
From Ancient City, we thought Erawan Museum was very close, but it still took about 20 minutes by Grab.
Other commute options:
- By BTS Skytrain: Get off at Chang Erawan Station, then walk for about 5–10 minutes.
- By Taxi/Grab from Central Bangkok: Expect around 150–250 Baht, depending on traffic.
- By Bus: Local buses pass along Sukhumvit Road, but this is less convenient for tourists.
Experience at Erawan Museum
The first thing we saw was the huge three-headed elephant statue, which is breathtaking up close. At the entrance, I presented my Klook voucher and was asked to remove my shoes. At first, I wasn’t allowed inside because of my short skirt, but thankfully I had a scarf to cover up.

Inside, the museum was stunning—especially the grand staircase and stained-glass ceiling, which felt like stepping into another world. The space isn’t as wide as Ancient City, but it’s filled with so much beauty and symbolism. After exploring for about an hour, we booked a Grab back to Bangkok.
