Agimat at Ugat

This bar has a unique concept of taking inspiration from Filipino folklore and the Filipino amulet called “Agimat” or “Anting-Anting” a Filipino term for a talisman or lucky charm known to possess supernatural powers. The appearance of the bar from the outside is the classic old house style that gives a mysterious vibe to the place. The first floor is the UGAT. Recommended for enclosed private events with a maximum seating capacity of 30 pax.

The second floor is called Agimat. That is where we are heading. This floor is open to everyone. The staircase to Agimat has burnt red candle wax lined up the stairs along the railing welcoming guests to an exciting experience. Basically, making you feel you are entering a different dimension of some sort.

The first thing you’ll notice when you get inside is the Balete tree behind the bar counter. Its vines are flowing down the trunk and its branches reach, almost crawling under the ceiling. They really live up to their concept because the Balete tree is believed to be the dwelling place of different kinds of dark supernatural beings like kapre, or tikbalang.

The ambiance was laid back and will give you a feel that you were in an enchanted forest. The interior is very different compared to the previous resto-bars I’ve been to. This is actually the first one, I’ve seen something like this.

It is interesting to watch someone order a drink that has a presentation or more like some ritual before they serve it.
